Gen I – Eevee Evo
When Eevee was first introduced in Generation I of the Pokémon series, it had three evolution options, Vaporeon, Jolteon and Flareon. These evolutions set the stage for Eevee being a versatile Pokémon and the introduction of more Eeveelutions in subsequent generations.
Vaporeon – シャワーズ
Vaporeon or シャワーズ (shawāzu) in Japanese, is a Water-type (みずタイプ, mizu-taipu) Pokémon known for its aquatic abilities.
Inhabiting areas near water, often faces a common misconception, with some confusing it for a mermaid due to a fish-like fin lingering on its tail. Vaporeon evolves from Eevee using a Water Stone (みずのいし、mizu no ishi).
The creature’s uniqueness lies in its body composition, crafted from cells with molecules resembling those in water. This molecular similarity makes Vaporeon or シャワーズ nearly invisible when dissolved in water. The cells, closely mirroring water molecules, explain its elusive behavior underwater, fueling the belief that シャワーズ might be the true inspiration behind legendary mermaid tales. The term シャワーズ is derived from the English word showers, referencing rain showers.
Jolteon – サンダース
The Thunder Stone (かみなりのいし、kaminari no ishi) next turns our cute Pokémon, into our next Electric-type (電気タイプ, denki-taipu) Eevee Evo with lightning-themed powers.
Derived from thunders, サンダース (sandāzu), or Jolteon, possesses cells that generate a mild electric charge. During intense emotions, it becomes electrified, expelling straightened body hairs. This electrification, both an emotional manifestation and a source of powerful electric shocks, is a distinctive feature. When angered, サンダース raises its hairs like sharp needles, and the audible sound of electricity, combined with its breath, showcases a formidable display of its electric capabilities.
Flareon – ブースター
Booster, ブースター (būsutā) or Flareon which evolves with the Fire Stone (ほのおのいし, hono’o no ishi), utilizes a flame bag within its body. This Eevee Evo is a Fire-type (ほのおタイプ, hono’o-taipu)Pokémon characterized by its fiery appearance. Inhaling air, it expels scorching flames at 1,700 degrees Celsius. To regulate its rising body temperature, which hits 900 degrees Celsius, the fluffy body hairs around its neck are spread to cool the overheated body.
The internal flame burns within bag-shaped organs, and to amplify the fire, the creature inhales the surrounding atmosphere. This process raises the temperature to an impressive peak of 1,700 degrees Celsius, highlighting the incredible and controlled nature of its fiery abilities.
Gen II – Eevee Evo
Generation II brought two more iconic Eevee Eeveelutions or ブイズ into the Pokémon world. We got Espeon a new Psychic-type, and then with the introduction of the new dark type, we got Umbreon.
Espeon – エーフィ
Our first Eevee Evo from Generation II is Espeon. This Psychic-type (エスパー・タイプ、esupā taipu) Pokémon with mystical and psychic abilities is known as エーフィ (ēfi) in Japanese or Eifie in romaji. This name appears to derive from a combination of Esper, possibly related to psychic abilities or extrasensory perception (ESP), and the word feel. The names in different languages for reference all convey a connection to psychic or mental abilities. Such as Psiana (German), Espeon (English, Spanish, Italian), and Mentali (French).
Espeon’s psychic powers, gives it ability to foresee opponents’ movements by observing the gentle swaying of its tail tip. It can sense air currents through its fine body hairs, enabling accurate predictions of actions. Additionally, the Pokémon can utilize mysterious powers to predict sky patterns and human thoughts. When exposed to sunlight, the scarlet bead on its forehead gleams, enhancing its vitality. Also, when raising Eevees friendship level, and getting to a high enough level you can evolve him to Espeon in the day.
Umbreon – ブラッキー
Umbreon, known as ブラッキー (burakkī) in Japanese or Bracky or previously Blacky in romaji, likely derives its name from a combination of black and possibly lucky or 月 (tsuki, moon). The association with black suggests a connection to the night and darkness, aligning with its nocturnal nature. Umbreon is a dark type (あくタイプ、aku taipu).
Umbreon’s sensitivity to the moon’s vibrations, causes the rings on its body to emit a faint glow. This mysterious power is awakened under the moon’s influence, and as darkness falls, the circular pattern naturally illuminates, acting as a deterrent to those who approach. The Pokémon is specifically active at midnight when the moonlight is prominent, showcasing its nocturnal habits. With large, adept eyes, Umbreon can spot prey even in the darkest conditions, further emphasizing its connection to the night. Speaking of which, this Eevee Evo evolves the same way as Espeon through high friendship but instead during the night!
Gen IV – Eevee Evo
Generation IV was the next time we got more Eevee Evo. Pokémon did not need to create new types as they had plenty left over. this gave us Leafeon and Glaceon.
Leafeon – リーフィア
リーフィア (rīfia), known as Leafeon, appears to derive its name from a combination of leaf and possibly atmosphere or another element. His name highlights Leafeon’s connection to nature and leaves. Leafeon evolves from Eevee when leveled up near a Moss Rock. It is a Grass-type (くさタイプ、kusa taipu) Pokémon with a leafy and nature-themed appearance.
On clear days, Leafeon engages in photosynthesis during its resting periods, contributing to the generation of clean air. The younger Leafeon emits a sharp, fresh scent reminiscent of leaves, and as it ages, this scent transforms into a more leaf-like fragrance. The Pokémon’s body hairs contain cells closely resembling those found in plants. Notably, its sturdy tail showcases impressive cutting abilities, capable of cleanly slicing through massive trees, emphasizing its affinity with the natural environment.
Glaceon – グレイシア
Glaceon is グレイシア (gureishia) in Japanese. In official romaji that is written as Glacia. The description emphasizes Glacia’s unique ability to manipulate its body temperature at will. This remarkable capability enables Glacia to freeze atmospheric moisture, creating a phenomenon known as diamond dust.
By lowering its body temperature, Glacia freezes all its body hair, transforming them into sharp needles that are then scattered. This process allows for a swift decrease in body heat. As it freezes the atmosphere, Glacia imparts a shimmering quality akin to a jewel, resulting in a captivating dance of ice particles suspended in the air. The Pokémon’s ability to create diamond dust showcases its mastery over temperature control and its ability to create a visually stunning display in its surroundings. If you want to know how to get this Eevee evo, when leveled up near an Ice Rock Eevee becomes this Ice-type (こおりタイプ、koori taipu) Pokémon known for its icy and frosty features.
Gen VI – Eevee Evos
The Pokémon series introduced the majority of the types in Generation one, so getting a new type is a big deal. In Generation VI we are introduced to the Fairy-Type. What a better way to get players accustom to this new type than also giving them a new Eeveelution? Gen VI is when we see our eighth and last Eevee, Sylveon.
Sylveon – ニンフィア
Now for the sole Eevee Evo from Generation VI and the last Pokémon. Sylveon, or ニンフィア (ninfia) in Japanese, is named after the English word Nymph, indicating a connection to fairies. The description emphasizes its graceful and elegant nature, portraying Sylveon as a dancer capable of sending healing vibrations into the opponent’s body to dispel hostility. This cutie evolves from Eevee when leveled up with high friendship and knowing a Fairy-type move. Sylveon is a Fairy-type (フェアリータイプ、fearī taipu) Pokémon introduced in the sixth generation.
Using ribbon-like antennae, Sylveon performs a sharp and precisely aimed dance, targeting vital spots despite its graceful appearance. The ribbon-like organs release chi, a vital force in traditional Chinese philosophy, to calm anger. In confrontational situations, Sylveon wraps around the opponent, instantly diffusing tension. This portrayal highlights Sylveon’s dual qualities of elegance and strategic prowess, showcasing its ability to bring both beauty and calmness to its surroundings.
