Below are 20 basic Japanese adjectives with some example sentences. Adjectives add more specific meaning to nouns. Combine these adjectives with some basic verbs and basic adverbs, and you can express even more concepts in Japanese.

Space and Distance
高い (たかい): tall
高い山を登った
I climbed a tall mountain
深い(ふかい): deep
特に深い意味はない
there is not any particularly deep meaning
近い(ちかい): close
駅の近くに住んでいる
I live close to the train station
Adverbs for Amounts
多い(おおい) : many
ここは人が多い
there are many people here
少ない(すくない) : few
あそこは人が少ない
there are few people over there
Comparative Adjectives
強い(つよい): strong
今日風が強いね
the wind is strong today
新しい(あたらしい): new
毎日新しいことを学びたい

若い(わかい): young

難しい (むずかしい): difficult

すごい : superb, tremendous, amazing
