December in Japanese is not too hard to remember. As long as you remember that it is the twelfth month then you are all set! Just add 12 to the Kanji for moon. I’ll explain more below.

December in Japanese is 12月じゅうにがつ. If you want to write that in Roman Characters it is junigatsu. Basically, in order to say December in Japanese, just remember the number twelve and the kanji character for moon. 12 in Japanese is juni or 十二. So you can also write December as 十二月 in Japanese. This is exactly how all of the months in Japanese work.

If you are curious there is an old or more traditional word for December in Japanese. It is 師走しわす. This word was used in the old Japanese calendar. This again in Roman Characters would be shiwasu.
