二月 – What is February in Japanese?

February in Japanese is 2月or in Roman Characters, nigatsu. Basically, in order to say February in Japanese, just know the number two and the character for moon. 2 in Japanse is ni or the character 二. So you can also write February as 二月 in Japanese. This is pretty much how all the months in Japanese work.

The Old way to say February in Japanese
Just as a bonus there is an old word for February in Japanese. It is 如月. This word was used in the old Japanese calendar. Though this word uses the same character to represent moon, the pronunciation does not correspond to the writing. Meaning, basically the name of the word later had the kanji characters assigned to it.
Putting it all Together
So nigatsu is February in Japanese. You can write it as the following:
- 2月
- 二月
Or the traditional word is 如月.
