June in Japanese is not too hard to remember. Basically, it is the number six added to the Kanji for moon. I’ll explain more below.

What is June in Japanese

June in Japanese is 6月ろくがつ or in Roman Characters, rokugatsu. Basically, in order to say June in Japanese, just know the number six and the character for moon. 6 in Japanese is roku or the character 六. So you can also write June as 六月 in Japanese. This is exactly how all of the months in Japanese work.

The Old way to say June in Japanese

If you are curious there is an old or more traditional word for June in Japanese. It is 水無月みなづき. This word was used in the old Japanese calendar.

Putting it all Together

So rokugatsu is June in Japanese. You can write it as the following:

  • 6月
  • 六月

Or the traditional word is 水無月.
