三月 – What is March in Japanese?

March in Japanese is fairly easy to remember. It is just the number three added to the Kanji for moon. I’ll explain more below.

March in Japanese is 3月さんがつor in Roman Characters, sangatsu. Basically, in order to say March in Japanese, just know the number three and the character for moon. 3 in Japanse is san or the character 三. So you can also write March as 三月 in Japanese. This is pretty much how all the months in Japanese work.

The Old way to say March in Japanese

Just as a bonus there is an old word for March in Japanese. It is 弥生やよい. This word was used in the old Japanese calendar.
