動物 – 11 Halloween Animals in Japanese

This month is Halloween and with Halloween comes pumpkins, candy, monsters, and of course certain animals. Today, I have a list below of many of the iconic creatures during the holiday. Let’s take a look at how to say these Halloween animals in Japanese:

コウモリ – Bat

コウモリ are mammals that fly around at night eating bugs. That is right, bats. Around Halloween, bats are often associated with Vampires or 吸血鬼きゅうけつき in Japanese.

黒猫 – Black Cat

Cats and especially black cats are common animals for Halloween.

They are not as popular as spiders during Halloween but ミミズ is the name for worms in Japanese.

If you think that eight legs were a lot, centipedes have one hundred! Or, they are just said to have that many since no one wants to count.

Finally, we have our last animal. The wolf. In Japanese the word for wolf is 狼. During the Halloween season, many people dress up as werewolves which are called, おとこ in Japanese.
