How to say Mom and Dad in Japanese
If you are wanting to talk about your parents in Japanese you can say 両親 or 親. If you say 両親 that refers to both parents while 親 would be one parent. But, in everyday use 親 could also mean both parents.
When talking about specifically mom then the Japanese word is お母さん and dad would be お父さん. There are different ways however to say mom or dad depending on if you are talking about your own family, other’s parents or the situation.
How do I refer to my Brothers and Sisters?
兄弟 is the word for siblings in Japanese. So, if you had 3 siblings you could say:
私は三人の兄弟がいます。
I have three siblings
You can also say the following if you are one of three siblings:
私は三人兄弟です。
I am one of three siblings
If you want to talk though about your brother or sister you have a few choices. お兄さん or 兄are the words for older brother and 弟 is the word for younger brothers.
Next, if you are talking about your sisters you have a couple of words also. お姉さん or 姉 means older sister and 妹 means younger sister.
