First, the general word used for light is 光ひかり. This word comes from the verb 光ひかる which means to shine or emit light.

太陽たいようの光
Sunlight

明るい

Next, the adjective 明あかるい means bright or light.

明るい部屋へや
a bright room

This word can also mean bright in the sense of a personality and so on.

ライト

Also, you can say ライト which comes from the English word for light. It mostly refers to actual lights like lamps.
